Decked out in stark white, black and grey, the Dunas del Sal is minimalist and modern. But that's not to say it's intimidating or aloof. Far from it. All the public spaces open out onto the sun terrace, so you can head straight from the shade of the lounge to a sun lounger beside the freshwater pool. The hotel's diving centre has a resident instructor to help you uncover the depths. And of course, there's the beach, just across the road. If you can tear yourself away from here, Santa Maria is only a twenty minute stroll away with water sports and bars aplenty. Not that you need to stray from the Dunas del Sal for food and drink. Like the hotel itself, the restaurant is contemporary in style, serving up a mixture of local dishes and international cuisine. After dinner visit the curved bar for an evening drink. Here you can soak up Cape Verde with a touch of style.
