An introduction to Jaz Royal Taba
The Jaz Royal Taba is one of those hotels that's got everything spot on. First, the location. It overlooks a strand of golden sands and because the complex is slightly elevated, every inch of it makes the most of the views.
Then there's the hotel itself. With its Moorish and Gothic-style architecture, design is key here. Take the lobby. A circular-shaped room with a seemingly never-ending ceiling and huge arched windows, it's reminiscent of the Alhambra Palace in Spain. And with its sand-coloured walls, polished marble floors and impressive fountain centrepiece, it's luxurious, too.
The rest of the Jaz Royal Taba follows suit. The split-level bedrooms are spacious and come with a lounge area, satellite TV and a balcony. And most rooms have a sea view. It's the decor that really impresses though. The bamboo-coloured walls have Moorish arched ceilings and little alcoves and there are Moroccan-style furnishings. Even the lattice wooden doors leading out onto the balcony are Arabian-inspired.
Outside, the hexagon-shaped swimming pool takes centre stage. Bordered by an extensive sun terrace dotted with sun loungers, parasols and flower beds, it looks right out over the beach. Other things to occupy you here include tennis and a courtyard of small bazaars. Younger guests aren't an afterthought here, either. As well as two children's pools, there are play areas and a daily kids' club for 4 to 12 year-olds.
