An introduction to Diani Sea Lodge

Monkeys in the garden, safaris on your doorstep and clear blue seas ripe for swimming and snorkelling - holidays at the Diani Sea Lodge have got adventure written all over them. But although getting out and about is one of the main reasons for coming here, the hotel itself is worth devoting some time to, as well.

A collection of whitewashed bungalows and cottages surrounded by palms and right by the beach, it looks every inch the exotic hideaway. Step inside and you'll find light and airy bedrooms with four-poster beds. Furnished simply but with everything you need, they open out on to a terrace overlooking the gardens. Add little touches like fresh flowers on arrival and you'll find it hard to believe it sits at the budget end of the scale.

Outside, meanwhile, there's a lagoon-like pool. Fringed by palms and banana trees, the gardens give way to a white sandy beach, and it's here you'll find the hotel-run activities like beach volleyball and football.

But if you're after more adventurous pursuits, give snorkelling a go. You can take a trip on a glass-bottomed boat and spend an hour or two getting to know the underwater world. Keep your eyes peeled for turtles and dolphins, too.

When it comes to refuelling back at the hotel, you'll find themed buffets, a snack bar serving things like pizza, and weekly barbecues, too. Plus, you've got a gourmet a la carte restaurant when you fancy a special meal.

Last but not least, the entertainment at the hotel revolves around African and Swahili evenings with traditional dancing, live music and discos.

My daughter and I loved the hotel and everything about it the food was wonderful entertainment every night staff could not do enough for you. It was just like another world we will definitely be going back. The excursions offered must not be missed... more on this review
