Not one corner of this magnificent Riad has been left neglected. Cool marble, intricate mosaics, gilt frames, silverware, velvet chaise longues and hi-tec wizardry abound. At the heart of the Riad is the traditional courtyard, with a lotus fountain surrounded by a small, neat oasis of low shrubs and plants, overlooked by a fragrant orange tree. Potted flowers and plants are dotted throughout the Riad, especially high up on the enticing roof terrace.

With views over the rooftops of the ancient medina and out across to the snow-capped High Atlas mountain range, it's a place for relaxation, contemplation and utter escapism. Whether gradually bronzing on one of the sunbeds, or enjoying a game of backgammon in the opium den-'esque' tented area with its bamboo and white cushioned daybeds and whirlpool bath, this roof terrace is stunningly atmospheric and utterly relaxing.

Inside, the Riad offers a select four rooms and one suite, all stylishly decorated with choice objets d'art and Warhol prints reflecting famous people throughout history from all corners of the globe. Choose from the Mao room with black lacquered furniture, Chinese urns and cool, jade green accents, or the Marilyn room with several of the iconic prints adorning the walls. Portraits of the German author, poet and philosopher hang in the Goethe room along with a leopard skin basking in front of a traditional exposed brick fireplace.

The only Warhol-free bedroom is the Arabie room which has mesmerising black and white portrait photography on the warm, taupe coloured walls, a rich red velvet chaise and a beautifully carved wooden cabinet. The Kennedy suite is perhaps the most decadent, with a huge four-poster bed dominating the master bedroom, and two other beds in separate rooms. Whichever you choose, all have state-of-the-art entertainment centres including satellite TV, CD and DVD players. There is a well-stocked library of books, CDs, DVDs and backgammon boards at your disposal.

After a hectic day haggling and sightseeing, you may wish to unwind in the Riad's wonderful hammam, with age-old spa treatments also available. After which, you will no doubt be rather peckish. So make your way to the restaurant, which also offers cooking lessons should you wish to replicate some of the spicy and delicious dishes back at home.
