This sleepy little town is a great choice for those wanting a quiet taste of local life. Time here is so laidback, you'll be hard-pushed to remember the haste and speed of home. But whatever else is on offer at this slice of paradise , it's the sand that offers the biggest treat. The beaches are inviting and far less crowded than in the tourist hotspots, and you'll find the selection of water sports is limited to the quieter non-motorised varieties. Scuba diving and snorkelling are particularly good options thanks to the added interest of a nearby wreck. Other activities to enjoy include a round or two of golf, or horse-riding trails tailored to take in the most scenic views. Staying in Runaway Bay, you're also near the little village of Nine Miles where music legend Bob Marley was born. As you can imagine the place certainly makes the most of its link with Jamaica's legendary musician, but with his music so engrained in the island's culture the experience is well worth it.
