Alykanas Village  

Families love this place. And it's no wonder - the Alykanas Village has got a whole lot going for it. Take the location. There's no daily trek down to the beach here. It's just a pad past the pool and you're there. Granted, it's a fairly dinky sliver, but the sands are perfect for sandcastles and are dotted with parasols for shade. Plus the turquoise waters are clear and shallow and the mountain views are to die for. What's more, you've got bars and restaurants practically on your doorstep, as it's only a five to ten minute walk into the resort centre.

As to the complex itself, you really couldn't ask for more. Set out like a little village, the Alykanas paints the perfect Greek picture with its terracotta rooftops and buildings painted in Mediterranean colours. The big attractions here are the three swimming pools. Two sit right in the heart of the grounds and there's a lagoon-shaped one right by the beach. All are sunk into spacious terraces accessorised with sun beds and parasols. And there are plenty of manicured lawns dotted about, too. Sunbathing aside, it's FamilyClub Xtra that really does the star turn here. Think playgrounds, kids' clubs, mini discos, creches, the lot. Plus, there are loads of daily activities for families of all ages. The apartments and studios come up trumps, too.

All have TVs, kitchenettes and air-con and most come with pool or sea views from their private balcony. Add great service, smart bars and superb evening entertainment into the mix and you can't go wrong. The whole family is going to love it here.
