Guide to Limni Keriou

Head south from the island's capital, Laganas, travel through the rolling hills and in about 20-minutes you'll clap eyes on the beguiling little bay that goes by the name of Limni Keriou. Famous on the island for being a real beauty spot, this cutesy village attracts the getaway-from-it-all crowd with its gorgeous scenery, serene shores and laid-back ambience. Of course, most come here to unwind on the pretty pebble beach. And who could blame them? A half-moon shaped bay, it slopes down into Tiffany-blue seas that are diamond-clear. It's also laced by a handful of tavernas and cafe-bars so you can grab an ice-cold drink or enjoy a leisurely lunch without having to move far. When you want to explore though, there's plenty to keep you on your toes here. Away from the beach, you'll find some quaint little shops to pop your head in and out of. And the walk up to Keri Lighthouse is well worth it for the dazzling views over the island and twinkling waters. Make sure you set aside some time to discover your delightful surroundings though. Don some walking shoes and head for the cushiony-green mountains where you can follow sun-dappled paths through whispering pine woods. Visit one of the diving centres here who can take you to fifteen spectacular dive sites including rainbow-coloured underwater caves. Or jump on board one of the taxi boats to one of the neighbouring islands. There's traditional Keri with its stone houses and narrow streets. Or Marathonisi, known locally as Turtle Island due to the famous loggerhead turtles who live here. However you spend your days, wind down after dark in one of Limni's authentic restaurants. Mainly peppered around the shores, a delicious Greek meal to the sound of the waves is pretty hard to resist. And the perfect end to the day.
