An introduction to Grand Hotel Royal
With a prime location on the promenade, this much-loved hotel exudes a sense of olde world grandeur. The imposing 'turreted' building has long been thought of as the symbol of Viareggio and was once the resort's finest hotel. A classic of its period - the first hotel to be built in Viareggio, in fact - recaptures the atmosphere of times gone by. The Royal still retains many of the features of yesteryear and has a faded elegance much loved by its guests. The grand, spacious entrance hall opens into the light-filled restaurant which has a domed glass ceiling; this impressive room looks out over the tranquil gardens where there's a large swimming pool. In fact the Royal is the only hotel in Viareggio to boast both a pool and a garden. Viareggio's famous stretch of sandy beach lies just across the road and charges at the Royal's beach are included.
