Il Vecchio Mulino

Nestling in the green and forested valley below the picturesque village of Coreglia Antelminelli lies Il Vecchio Mulino, which was once a working watermill. Only about 2km from the village (down a fairly steep unlit country road), Il Vecchio Mulino has a secluded location, though not isolated, as little La Casetta is located nearby.

Well-tended, lawned gardens lead down, through shady trees, to the babbling brook that once gave life to the mill. The swimming pool has been bordered in natural stone to retain the charm of this leafy glade. The cottage has been beautifully renovated. Some of the best features - the ancient wooden doorway, heavy wooden beams and terracotta floors - have been restored to their former glory, while the old grinding stones are displayed in the garden.

The living-dining room on the ground floor is comfortably furnished and boasts a large fireplace and the spacious kitchen is well equipped. Also on the ground floor is a shower room. An open spiral stairway leads up to the first floor where there are two twin or double bedrooms, two single rooms and a bathroom. One of the single bedrooms has a floor hatch to a secondary access via a tiny spiral stairway (unsuitable for toddlers). The second single has an additional external stairway, making it easy to carry luggage to the first floor.

A barbecue terrace in the gardens or the large stone terrace both provide a wonderful place to enjoy al fresco meals while discussing the day's adventures.
