If busy doing nothing is your holiday mantra, then Marfa Bay will be right up your street. It's about as far from the city lights and traffic-clogged streets as you can get. Cupped into a beguiling bay on Malta's northern shores, this enchanting little resort is arguably one of the island's most charming. With just a sprinkling of keep-to-themselves hotels and mile after mile of unspoilt countryside surrounding you, you'll feel a world away from the rat race. When you're not enjoying the privacy of your hotel, head for the local hotspots – the jaw-dropping beaches. For starters, there's the aptly named Paradise Bay. Backed by cushiony-green trees, this Eden-like cove is blessed with blonde-white sands that melt into turquoise seas. Then there's the much-loved Mellieha Bay. A sweeping stretch of sugary-white shores, it's the longest beach in Malta and the Tiffany-blue waters have some of the best scuba-diving in the Mediterranean. Whichever one you want to grace, both are within easy reach just a couple of kilometres away. Make sure you take some time out to explore the surrounding area, too. Follow the coastal footpaths across the Bronte-like cliffs, soaking up the spotless scenery and views over Comino and Gozo islands as you go. Catch one of the ferries to these neighbouring isles and spend the day discovering them. Or hop in a car or on a bus and take the five minute drive to Mellieha where you can have a browse around the shops or tuck into a slap up meal at one of the restaurants. However you spend your days here, you'll feel a million miles away from the white noise of the modern world. Savour every single second.
