'With its sandy beach, royal palace and soaring mountain backdrop, Milocer captures the essence of magical Montenegro.'
If you like your beach served up with magnificent forested mountains, tranquil resorts and a former royal palace, you're incredibly fussy. But you're also in luck. Milocer ticks everything on your holiday wishlist and sneaks a few extras too. On the mid-Montenegrin coast facing the island hotel of Sveti Stefan, this unrushed little place sandwiches itself between emerald Adriatic waters and soaring mountains. At its heart is a delectable, long crescent of sandy beach. Complete with a tempting selection of watersports for those energetic moments, it's a great place to laze, swim and enjoy the dramatic views. Peer behind you for instance and you'll spot the royal residence, currently the summer home of Montenegro's president. Still awakening to tourists, the area offers lots of little surprises. Just a stroll away – through one of the two gates in the palace's walls – you'll find Przno, a charming fishing village with a beach flanked by olive trees and fine seafood eateries and cafes. Through the second gateway, you'll come to Sveti Stefan, with more beaches and a tantalising choice of restaurants, grills and pizzerias to keep you fed and watered. If you're itching to discover more, nearby Budva is your place. Here, in its magical medieval walled town, you can shop till you drop before choosing a traditional restaurant to dine on fresh Montenegrin fish and hearty local wine. And if you're in party mood, why not linger longer? With its clubs and bars, Budva provides the perfect injection of fun into your otherwise peaceful Milocer holiday.
Built in 1934, the former royal residence is enclosed within a wall with 2 gates, one leading to Przno and the other to Sveti Stefan. Spanning 18 hectares, Milocer forest provides a stunning backdrop to the residence and an abundance of exotic trees, such as Lebanese cedar, tropical mimosa, Japanese medlar, cactus agave and pittosporum. The promenade at nearby Przno offers a selection of fine seafood restaurants, cafes and bars, and the attractive, fortified fishing village turned hotel of Sveti Stefan is also within walking distance.
