Once you stay here you'll want to come back again and again and again. You see, the Riu Monica is one of those rare hotels that ticks all the right boxes. In fact, it's built up a loyal following of fans who just can't get enough of the place. So what's the boomerang-like appeal? Well, the location's a big clincher.
Set opposite Playa de la Torrecilla, it's just a hop, skip and a jump down to the beach. You can more or less roll out of bed and onto the sweep of soft sand beyond. Of course, you may prefer to simply potter around the pool. And who could blame you? Tucked in lush gardens, and with views out to sea, it's a lovely spot just to kick back and relax. And if you want a break from the sun, you can always retire to the gorgeous indoor swimming pool for a refreshing dip.
Beaches and pools aside, the bedrooms here are just lovely, decked out in fresh Mediterranean colours and with all the mod cons like air-conditioning and satellite TV.
Food at the Riu Monica is another pull. Start the day off with a sizzling breakfast of bacon and eggs. Perhaps grab a quick snack at the pool bar for lunch before getting ready for a slap up meal at the all-you-can-eat buffet come dinnertime. As if that wasn't enough, there's also show cooking and a special theme night every week.
Once you're pleasantly full, pull up a pew in the bar for a glass of rioja. Or perhaps settle down to enjoy the organised entertainment that's laid on. There are shows several times a week in the Bar Salon. If, however, you want to go out in the evenings, Nerja's restaurants and tapas bars are within easy striking distance, just 800 metres or so away.
All in all, the Riu Monica is a gem of a hotel and it's clear to see why so many people love it. We're confident you're going to love it, too.

We had the time of our lives at the Riu Monica. It is a fantastic hotel with first class facilities. Our first room had curtains that mismatched the bedding that mismatched the pelment and gave us hallucinations (haha) but we moved and had a lovely one... more on this review
