Hotel Magnolia  

The Hotel Magnolia is one of those rare places that exudes effortless style. There are no OTT design statements here. Just plenty of well thought out rooms, an elegant pool scene and a first class wellness centre, all wrapped up in a minimalist building that's just a few minutes walk from the seafront.

The interior here is worth every one of the hotel's four stars. Cue a lobby of teak wood, parlour plants and subtle lighting. Step further inside and you'll find more of the same laid-back design. The bars and restaurants are dressed in warm, earthy tones and lit with globes of soft light. In the restaurant expect buffet-style breakfasts and a la carte evening meals all made with fresh Mediterranean produce. In terms of looks, sleek, cubist-style chairs are teamed with ochre table-linen. And like a cool London eatery it's every inch the place to be seen.

As for the bedrooms, they look just as good. Sumptuous king-size beds are topped with pillows of your choice. Your en-suite bathroom has a hydromassage shower or bath, and there are extras like internet connection, air-conditioning and a TV. Factor in a palette of cream and chocolate brown, not to mention a large terrace, it's the perfect retreat.

Outside, the pool scene sticks with the hotel's simple design scheme. The pool itself is rectangular and sunk into a wooden sundeck peppered with comfy sunloungers. Plus there's a pool bar for snacks and a chill out area.

Facilities-wise, there's plenty going on. You've got a wellness centre that boasts a Turkish bath, a whirlpool bath, a sauna and its own gym. Plus there's a whole new list of treatments like dermabrasion with sea salts, Ayurvedic treatments and facial and foot massages.
