Guide to Baga

The northern area is the livelier part of Goa and has a bustling nightlife - you'll find a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Soft sands run from Fort Aguada to Baga with the resort of Calangute in between them. Watersports are widely available. Calangute is Goa's busiest resort that has grown from a peaceful fishing village. Just south of here is Panaji, Goa's capital city. It is a haven for shoppers and bargain hunters, and its architecture has a strong Portuguese influence. The hotels in Central Goa are ideally placed for exploring Panaji. Nine kilometres from Panaji is the historic town of Old Goa, which has magnificent buildings and churches. Further south is the Zuari River, where you may get the chance to spot a crocodile or two.
