Guide to Indian Rocks

'You can't help but fall for the barefoot beach resort of Indian Rocks –it's a little piece of heaven.'

Sitting alongside a slice of dazzling-white sands, the breathtaking island of Indian Rocks is connected to the mainland by a bridge. So, near enough to all of Florida's top-notch attractions such as Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens, yet delightfully castaway when you want to escape the crowds. Once you set foot on this laid-back lovely though, it'll be hard to tear yourself away. For one, the oh-so chilled out vibe here will have any stresses shaken off before you've even unpacked your case. And the friendly locals have you feeling instantly at home. Then there's the fact that some of the Gulf Coast's finest restaurants live here. Take your pick from the enticing eateries and tuck in to good old American favourites and the freshest of seafood including shrimp and crab. Oh, and don't forget to round it off with a moreish slice of Key Lime pie for dessert. And last, but certainly by no means least, is Indian Rocks star attraction – the beach. And boy, what a beach it is. Shimmering its way along the turquoise-green seas for 5km, even in the height of summer, you can always find your own piece of paradise to stretch out on here. As soft as cashmere and bone-white, to boot, who could blame you for simply whiling your days away here. If you do fancy stretching your legs though, stroll along the front and you'll find plenty of interesting shops to pop in and out of. Or if you're into wildlife, mosey on down to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary where you can see pelicans, herons and cormorants. And if you're here in April or November, don't miss the huge arts and crafts festival that's held here, where you can buy no end of trinkets and treasures. It's no wonder those in the know come from around the globe to getaway from the world here. They're onto something very special indeed. Isn't it time you were in on it, too?
