The Calypso - New Addition to the Thomson fleet
Thomson Cruise's new ship, The Calypso has successfully completed her first voyage after setting sail on 31 March from Limassol, Cyprus on the Ancient Empires itinerary. The attraction of an 'adults only' ship, along with this great itinerary meant that her first voyage was a sell-out.
Because of her compact size, Calypso can navigate through the Corinth Canal, making a variety of destinations easily accessible. Cruises from Thessaloniki, which will be Calypso's home port, can now sail through the Corinth Canal to Corfu, Albania and Parga. The Black Sea will also be a regular itinerary port of call with 'The Crimean Discovery' which stops in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania and Turkey. Thomson cruises will be the first UK cruise-line to offer regular itineraries in this region. There will be the opportunity to cruise and stay with an extra week in a selection of hotels in the Halkidiki region of Greece. Flights are available from seven UK airports.
David Selby, Head of Thomson Cruise says, "Imaginative changes have been made to the ship to give an expansive feel onboard and the entertainment programme will delight even our most loyal cruisers. I think this programme is going to be a real "hit" with passengers."
The Calypso is the smallest of the Thomson fleet and will offer a wide range of facilities including: four lounges and bars, show lounge, two restaurants, casino, library and card room with internet café, shopping arcade and boutique, hair and beauty salon, fitness centre with sauna, gym and massage.
